Our review of the Siemens EX877LX67E iQ700 induction hob
If you’re looking for a streamlined finish to complete your kitchen, a Siemens flexInduction hob from the studioLine range is worth considering. The iQ700 induction hob with an integrated ventilation system, which removes the need for a separate extractor fan. It’s ideal for kitchen islands and peninsulas. Let’s take a closer look at all the other clever features of the Siemens ventilation hob…
Say goodbye to the traditional extractor fan
Without a quality extractor fan cooking smells can linger, and a traditional wall hung extractor will take up precious space. It can encroach on the overall look of your kitchen – especially if you want your hob positioned on an island.
The Siemens iQ700 Induction Hob EX877LX67E combines hob and extractor in one unit; extracting steam and odours at their source to leave your kitchen smelling clean and fresh.
The hob that adjusts to your cookware
With flexInduction, the flexible cooking zone automatically extends to accommodate extra-large cookware (up to 24 cm) in diameter. If one zone is not big enough for your cookware, your hob takes control and activates more inductors for even heating. It’s also an excellent option for using teppanyakis or griddle plates up to 40 cm long.
With the flexInduction hob you can, at a touch of a button, combine two zones together to work as one, giving you optimum flexibility. The amount of usable surface on your hob will accommodate even the largest of pans. Perfect for thickening up gravy in the roasting tin to make the most of the flavourful juices from your joint of meat.
Touch and slide for total control
Neatly arranged dual light sliders make it simple to select cooking zones on each side of your cooktop. Just tap and slide to control your hob. And when the hob is switched off, the interface disappears to leave you with a sleek and minimalist black glass surface.
Automatic freshness for your kitchen
The climateControl Sensor automatically measures steam intensity and detects cooking smells to keep your kitchen condensation and odour free. No more lingering fishy aromas!
Ultra-easy cleaning filters
The flush extractor has a triple overflow protection to prevent liquids from entering the system. If something should tip over, everything is collected in a container below, which also incorporates the new grease filters. Now accessible from above, the entire unit fits easily into the top basket of a dishwasher. The cooktop is soon ready for use again.
Caroline’s top tip: How to clean an induction hob cooktop
In addition to the easy-clean filter, Caroline has an ingenious tip to keep the hob cooktop gleaming so the whole hob will be clean as a whistle inside and out.
All you need is an induction hob and either kitchen towel or a cotton tea towel.
Before you start cooking, place your kitchen towel or tea towel over your induction hob, ensuring the entire surface is covered. Then position your pots and pans on top, ready to cook. The Induction heat will still work and won’t burn the towel. Any spills and stains will fall on your towel rather than the hob leaving your hob surface spill-free. Once you’ve finished cooking, simply remove the towel – no mess and hassle! Easy-peasy.
Information about your hob, no matter where you are – Home Connect App
Wi-fi-enabled Siemens home appliances and Home Connect ease your workload. For example, it’s possible to receive information about your cooktop on your smartphone or tablet, and get an email when the filter is saturated and needs a clean. There are so many clever things the Home Connect app can do, and here are a few of our favourite:
Remote Control – with the intuitive Home Connect App you can control the settings of your Siemens hood. For example, adjust the power level or the delayed shut-off duration conveniently with a few clicks.
Recipes & Remote Setting – if you use the Siemens cookingSensor or fryingSensor in combination with your wi-fi-enabled Siemens hob and Home Connect, the ideal settings for your meal choice are conveniently transferred directly to your appliance – where you just need to confirm them with one single click.
Remote Monitoring – peace of mind is just a click away with wi-fi-enabled Siemens hoods and hobs and Home Connect. Monitor your appliance’s settings and receive push notifications when the program is finished – from wherever you are.
Remote Diagnostics -analysis and service can be this simple. Call the Home Connect hotline and if your appliance comes with remote diagnostics, you can arrange an appointment with a technician. With your permission, the technician will obtain online access to your wifi-enabled Siemens appliances, and may then be able to identify the cause of any problems and give you clear advice on what needs doing.
Total control for frying
fryingSensor Plus helps make sure every one of your crêpes will be deliciously golden, from first to last. It alerts you when the pan has reached the right temperature, then maintains that exact heat level for as long as you’re cooking. Your creations stay free of scorching, and you can stay focused on your guests.
Shift the heat by shifting the pan: powerMove
powerMove Plus lets you separate your cooktop into three different heating zones. From roasting at highest temperatures in the back to keeping meals warm in the front – the individual zones are activated by simply placing the cookware on them.
Remembers the heat settings for individual pans: flexMotion
flexMotion remembers the heat settings for individual pans, so you can move them freely across the hob. The temperature on the new cooking zone automatically adapts. Spend less time adjusting the hob controls, and more time cooking.
More power when you need it
Use powerBoost to increase the power of an induction zone by up to 50%. That could save you up to 35% of the time it usually takes to heat up pots. Spend less time waiting and more time stirring, seasoning and serving your brilliant meals.
