Cool greys and easy-access storage to modernise our client’s kitchen
Thatcham Kitchen Designs was recommended to Rebecca by one of our former fitters, who now works as her handyman. It’s reassuring to know that our reputation as a trusted and reliable kitchen supplier precedes us!
She wished to modernise her kitchen but keep some of the traditional features. She also wanted more easy-access kitchen storage to give her appliances and cooking equipment a home.
What Thatcham Kitchens did for Rebecca
Advice and guidance selecting the cabinet doors
Caroline spent time going through all the options of door styles for Rebecca’s new kitchen, with the final choice being handle-less doors in Cambridge shaker style. Futura style kitchens have no doors, instead they have extrusions (rails) that allow you a space to put your fingers anywhere along the length of the door or drawer front to open it.
Rebecca has a keen eye for colour, so she selected matt paint in Mussel for the doors to contrast with the existing flooring.
Optimum kitchen storage
Along with discussing the door style, Caroline advised Rebecca on the various storage configurations available for the cabinets. Through careful consultation Rebecca selected chose two pull out larders either side of her American fridge freezer to frame it, with a cupboard above for additional storage.
The clever corner unit has two independent pull out non slip shelves, each opening independently of the other giving full view & access to the corner .
We added plenty of deep pan drawers into the design to give easy access storage for plates & other crockery, casserole dishes, serving dishes, and small appliances such as a toaster can be put away to keep the Corian worktops clear.
Her customised reduced depth drawer units give space for stationery and paperwork, whilst complimenting the kitchen units style & colour.
Kitchen island as a focal point
As an enthusiastic cook and welcoming host, Rebecca wanted the kitchen island to be a focal point in her new kitchen. Her guests can comfortably sit and chat over a glass of wine as she prepares the food. The reduced depth units on the island give additional storage whilst not intruding on the seating area
In addition to being a sociable area, the island doubles up as practical storage space; a pull out waste bin in the centre island is ideal for the prep area, offering recycling, general waste & kitchen waste bins all within one unit.
Pre-existing appliances
Rebecca already had an American Fridge freezer and oven she wanted to use in her new kitchen. Our designers were able to easily accommodate them in the kitchen plans, and they designed the bespoke cabinets to incorporate both appliances into the layout.
